Qualifications & Experience


Jim Martin is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) he holds a MEng, a BSc and a Post Graduate Diploma in Computing for Commerce and industry. 

During the last 25 years his roles have included Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineering Manager and Project Engineer providing leadership to large multi-discipline teams within the Oil & Gas industry. 

Jim’s Oil & Gas career started 1982 where he worked in the North Sea in a number of mechanical engineering roles during Hook Up, Commissioning and ongoing maintenance and modifications of offshore oil and gas platforms. 

The last 9 years of his career have been spent in the Middle East working as a project management consultant responsible for mega ($1Billion) projects. His clients included Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait National Petroleum Company and Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company. 

Throughout his varied career Jim has mentored and coached project personnel at all levels, an activity he is keen to continue through the Project Engineers Toolkit. 

Jim recently retired from full time working in the Gulf states but remains fully connected to the industry through his association with Cranston Engineering Ltd and to current affairs through his connections with the IGEM and PMI.


Personal Interests & Volunteering


Jim is a keen cyclist and enjoys regular sessions in the Yorkshire countryside. He is also a member of the Kirklees Light Railway and supports both with engineering expertise and hands on activities.
